The Building Construction program is designed to prepare students to perform entry-level carpentry and residential building construction. Building students study house construction from the footing to the roof including basic plumbing, electricity and masonry. Construction materials, blueprint reading, safety, site layout and site preparation are covered. Students also learn safety, use of hand and power tools and applied mathematics
Each student may have the opportunity to acquire a NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) card, an OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 card, and Early College Credit through Greenville Technical College. In addition, students join SkillsUSA and can earn the opportunity to compete statewide and nationally
