Rising Kindergarteners! We cannot wait for you to join the Oakview family and be an Owl! Please click the video to view our virtual Kindergarten orientation for in-person learning. Hoot-hoot-hooray!
Oakview Owls! Keep up with your math and ELA skills this summer by participating in our summer academic opportunities! ALL students can join our Read-A-Palooza. It'll really stretch your reading with fun challenges like reading a book with "Blue" in the title or one with a dragon on the cover! Need help finding books? If you are a member of the public library, you can check-out ebooks, read from Tumblebooks, or find a medal-winning book. If you are not a member, you can still get a card even while the library is closed. Don't forget you can use your Epic! books login or Raz-Kids login over the summer, if your teacher has an account. Sora is another great option to find ebooks--login with your GCSD credentials to access.
Rising 3rd-5th graders--- the IXL Summer Bingo is for you! (Link to IXL login) Complete at least 5 in a row on the Bingo board. It can be diagonal, vertical, or horizontal. Do more than that?? That's great! The challenge is to complete the whole board. Who will land on our Bingo Bulletin Board in August?
Need other things to do? All students have access to TypeTastic. You can access it through your student backpack using your GCSD login. See if you can get your typing speed up to 5 words per minute per grade level (ex. a third grader would type 15 words per minute with 85% accuracy). SC Discus Kids has great resources like Magic School Bus and BrainPop Jr. There's even TumbleMATH that targets Kindergarten through 6th grade. SCETV also has fantastic resources-- they are the ones who bring your PBS Kids programming, but there's also coloring pages and other printable activities as well as parent resources.
So many things to do this summer! Don't forget to get outside and play, cook with your family, make up a song or paint a picture! You can always share your fun with us using the #onlyatOakview on Instagram or send your pictures and videos to Mrs. Hollingsworth at email@example.com. See you soon!
Nutritionally balanced meals will be provided to all children regardless of race, color, sex, disability, age or national origin during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available. All children 18 years old and younger are eligible for meals at no charge and there will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Meals will be provided Monday through Thursday from 10 AM –12 PM each day. On Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, each student will receive one breakfast and one lunch. On Thursdays, each student will receive eight meals – four breakfasts and four lunches. FANS will
continue this schedule through Thursday, August 6.
Due to COVID-19 social distancing requirements, meals will be provided on a to-go basis only and will be served in the school’s student drop-off line. There will be no need for parents to exit their vehicles to obtain the meals. USDA has provided flexibilities to allow the distribution of meals to adults to take home to children. Meals may be distributed to adults when children are not present if the adult is able to demonstrate proof of the child’s identity.
Valid forms of identification may include, but are not limited to school identification card, school report card, child’s passport, birth certificate, government-issued child identification card, or any document proving parent/guardian identity and relationship to the child, such as an adoption decree, doctor, clinic, or hospital record, religious record, or daycare center record.
We are asking for a completed form for all students so we can efficiently plan for how students will arrive and depart our campuses daily. It is particularly important for students who have moved or changed schools to have a form completed. Car riders, walkers, bicyclists, and daycare bus riders are also required to complete this form. In order to ensure school bus transportation on the first day of school, forms are due by July 31st. School bus requests submitted after July 31st will not be routed until after Labor Day in the order they were received.
Summer Office Hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
