School lunches across America are based on new United States Department of Agriculture requirements to improve students' nutrition by reducing calories, providing more fruit and vegetables, and decreasing protein, bread and sodium. Previously, school lunches could exceed USDA minimum requirements. That is no longer allowed. Posters will be displayed in serving lines advising students of the food items that must be chosen.
