● Per GCS Policy JBC, students age 6 by September 1 will be placed in 1st grade.
● Kindergarten placement for a 6-year-old requires documentation of extenuating circumstances.
Not considered extenuating circumstances:
● Late birthday
● Needs more time to mature
● Preschool Child Find services
● Difficulty separating from parent
● Gender
● Sibling retention

📄 Documents Needed
Please have the following ready:
● Parent/Guardian Driver’s License
● Child’s Birth Certificate
● South Carolina Immunization Record (DHEC)
○ (Out-of-state records must be transferred to SC)
● Two Proofs of Residency, such as:
○ Utility bill (within last 30 days)
○ Mortgage/closing statement
○ Property tax document
○ Recent tax return
○ DSS or government agency statement
