Law enforcement is a public-service field built on integrity, responsibility, communication, and sound decision-making. Professionals in policing, corrections, security, emergency management, and related fields help protect people, maintain order, enforce laws, and build trust within their communities.
Enoree’s Law Enforcement program is part of the South Carolina Public Service and Safety Career Cluster. Students complete Law Enforcement 1 and 2 during one school year through classroom instruction, hands-on training, practical exercises, and scenario-based learning.
Instruction introduces students to policing, corrections, criminal law, ethics, investigations, emergency response, and community relations while developing the professional habits needed for future study and public safety careers.

One-Year Program
Students complete the full Law Enforcement 1 and 2 course sequence during one school year. The program is available during the morning and afternoon sessions and awards two high school credits upon successful completion.
Public Service and Safety Pathway
Students who successfully complete Law Enforcement may be strong candidates to apply for additional instruction within Enoree’s Public Service and Safety Career Cluster. Depending on grade level, eligibility, scheduling, available space, and program requirements, future options may include Firefighting or the proposed Emergency Medical Technician program, tentatively planned for the 2027–2028 school year.
Program Credits
The two credits count as electives toward South Carolina high school graduation requirements. One credit may fulfill the CATE/Foreign Language graduation requirement.

Full-Year Course Sequence
Law Enforcement 1 and 2 | Morning or Afternoon Session at Enoree
Law Enforcement 1 and 2 introduce students to the foundations of policing, corrections, security, and public safety. The program is open to rising 10th-, 11th-, and 12th-grade students who are prepared to complete the entire year of coursework and training.
Students begin by studying the history and structure of law enforcement, the responsibilities of different agencies, criminal law, constitutional principles, ethics, professionalism, and community relations.
Instruction emphasizes safety, communication, leadership, teamwork, and ethical decision-making. Students learn that public trust depends on fairness, responsibility, professional conduct, and respect for the law and the people being served.
As students progress through the course, they apply their knowledge through practical exercises and scenario-based learning. Training may include defensive tactics, crime-scene fundamentals, investigations, emergency response, incident management, report writing, and communication during stressful situations.
Students are expected to evaluate information, follow procedures, communicate clearly, work as part of a team, and make responsible decisions. These experiences help students understand both the authority and accountability connected to public-safety careers.
By the end of the year, students may have earned multiple safety, emergency-response, and criminal-justice credentials. They leave the program with practical experience and a strong foundation for technical college, four-year criminal-justice programs, military service, corrections, security, emergency communications, or continued learning within Enoree’s Public Service and Safety programs.
Career Opportunities
Law Enforcement can provide a foundation for careers in policing, corrections, military service, private security, emergency communications, investigations, and public safety. Most sworn law enforcement positions require additional education, academy training, background screening, and age or eligibility requirements.
Police Officer
Police officers patrol communities, respond to calls, investigate incidents, enforce laws, prepare reports, assist residents, and work with other agencies to protect public safety. Academy training and state certification are required.
Corrections Officer
Corrections officers maintain safety and security in detention and correctional facilities. They supervise individuals in custody, enforce rules, conduct searches, document activity, and support safe facility operations.
Military Police
Military police support security, law enforcement, investigations, traffic control, detention operations, and protection of military personnel and facilities. Requirements and training vary by service branch.
Emergency Dispatcher
Emergency dispatchers receive calls for assistance, gather critical information, provide instructions, dispatch responders, monitor radio traffic, and coordinate communication among police, fire, and emergency medical agencies.

Successful law enforcement students and professionals combine technical knowledge with integrity, emotional maturity, communication, teamwork, and sound judgment.

- Communication: Listen carefully, ask effective questions, explain information clearly, document accurately, and use de-escalation strategies.
- Decision-making: Evaluate facts, policies, risks, and possible outcomes before choosing a responsible course of action.
- Emotional control: Remain composed, focused, and professional during stressful, emotional, or uncertain situations.
- Teamwork: Follow the chain of command, communicate with partners, share information, and contribute to coordinated operations.

Professional Expectations
Students must be prepared to participate in physical activities, scenario-based exercises, discussions of criminal justice topics, written assignments, team activities, and professional communication. Mature conduct, dependability, respect, and careful attention to safety are expected throughout the program.

Graduation and college admission note: Credits earned through this program count as electives toward South Carolina high school graduation requirements. One credit may fulfill the CATE/Foreign Language graduation requirement. Most four-year colleges do not accept career center courses as substitutes for foreign language courses required for college admission. Students should review graduation, certification, and college admission requirements with their school counselor and Mr. Johnson.
