Attendence
Every high school course earns a student a Carnegie unit towards graduation (usually 4 per semester).
In order to receive credit for a course, a student must earn a passing grade and have 5 or fewer unexcused absences.
Students must be present for at least half of the period (45-minutes) of a class period in order to be marked present for the class.
It is critical that high school students arrive to school on time and are only dismissed early for essential personal matters so that they are not denied credit due to excessive absences in one or more of their class periods.
Parents can only excuse 5 absences for student illness per semester without a doctor's note.
