- ATHLETICS
Girls: Volleyball (fall), basketball (winter), softball & soccer (spring).
Boys: Basketball (winter), baseball & soccer (spring).
Eligibility: Students must be in 7th or 8th grade and have pre-participation forms on file to try out for an athletic team. (If your student would like to try out for a sport not listed above, please contact the high school they are zoned for to inquire as to teams.) More information available on our athletic page.

- NATIONAL JUNIOR HONOR SOCIETY (NJHS)
Description: NJHS is a service volunteer organization that is expected to volunteer one hour each month within the walls of Northwood and one hour in the community each quarter. NJHS works closely with our Special Education students to develop meaningful relationships. It is also great to have our students volunteering in our community and learning the importance of giving back.
Eligibility: Students must have all A's and B's in 6th grade and in the first semester of 7th grade, no referrals, two teacher recommendations, and possess leadership qualities. Students apply in March of their 7th grade year and begin their membership/volunteering responsibilities throughout their 8th grade year.
Costs/Fees: $20 one-time membership fee required
Meetings: Meets the 1st Thursday of each month (except for January) from 3:30 until 4:00/4:15 pm

- JOURNALING CLUB
Description: Bullet journaling is a combination of organization, creativity, and reflection. In this club, you will design, write, and draw in a journal -- about whatever you want!
Eligibility: Anyone is eligible to join

- CREATIVE WRITING CLUB
Description: In this club, you will work on writing short stories and possibly some poetry.

- HISTORY THROUGH CINEMA CLUB
Description: Students will watch movies based on historical events that will allow for discussions about the "who, what, when, how, why" and other factors involved in the time period viewed. Note: Some movies may be PG-13 and will require parent permission for students to view.

Costs/Fees: None, but students must complete this Google Form: History Through Cinema Interest Form

- BASKETBALL WORKOUT CLUB
Description: In this club, you will practice basketball skills, drills, and games.
Eligibility: September & October meetings are open to students in grades 7-8, and April & May meetings are open to students in grades 6-7. Students must have appropriate documentation on PlanetHS prior to participating in any capacity.
Costs/Fees: None
Meetings: Meets 2-4 times per month in September, October, April, & May from approximately 4:00-5:00 pm. Contact club sponsor for exact schedule.

- STUDENT COUNCIL
Description: Student Council is the liaison between students and faculty at Northwood. Elected representatives provide leadership for school events and are the voice of Northwood students.
Eligibility: Elected members in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade
Costs/Fees: None
Meetings: Meets every other week from 3:30-4:30 pm. This club may require other time commitments outside of scheduled meetings. Contact club sponsors for exact schedule.

- DANCE CLUB
Description: Dance club is for anyone who enjoys dance or movement. This club is an opportunity to exercise and learn a variety of different dances. We will explore line dances, Zumba, and other popular dances. Dance club is just for fun - there are no planned performances.

- WALK TO RUN 5K CLUB
Description: Students will walk or run laps (at their own pace) on the track. Students will also select two 5K's to run as a group.
Eligibility: Anyone is eligible to join
Costs/Fees: Students will be required to pay their own race entry fees (one 5K in 2021, one 5K in 2022).
Meetings: Meets approximately 2-3 times per month from 3:45-5:00 pm. Additional meetings may be scheduled and communicated by the club sponsor. It will be beneficial if members run on their own outside of actual meeting times.

- ROBOTICS CLUB
Description: In this club, you will work as a team to build a VEX IQ robot. The robot will then work in an alliance with another team to score as many points as possible in a competition.
Eligibility: Anyone is eligible to join

Meetings: Meets on Mondays from 3:45-5:00 pm; competitions will be held on Saturdays.

- YEARBOOK STAFF
Description: Join us as we preserve the year here at Northwood! The yearbook staff works throughout the year to learn about photography, journalism, and team work as we design and publish our school's events in the yearbook.
Eligibility: Anyone may attend the interest meeting on Thurs, Oct 14. Selection for yearbook staff is based on teacher recommendation.
Costs/Fees: None
Meetings: For those selected for yearbook staff, meetings will be held every other Thursday (starting Oct 14) from 3:30-4:30. Additional time commitments may include event coverage (photos & interviews) and deadline meetings.

- NATIONAL JUNIOR BETA CLUB
Description: Beta Club recognizes academic achievement, promotes character, develops leadership skills, and encourages service involvement through volunteer work.
Eligibility: Selection is based on students with all A's and B's, good behavior, and completion of service hours (5 hours per semester).
Costs/Fees: $15.00
