Extended Day Program 2020-21

LEAP Program - August 17-21, 2020


All students enrolled at Northwood Middle School are invited to participate in a half day of the upcoming LEAP program!
NOTE:  In order to attend, you must sign up using this link by Mon, August 10!
Please take a moment to review full LEAP program details included in Mr. Lee's July 22 phone home.  Mr. Lee will provide another phone home, Facebook post, and website post in the coming days to provide more details and answers to your most commonly asked questions! 

Students who plan to attend traditional, in-person school will have the option to attend on their assigned day (below) from 8:30-10:45 am
Students who plan to attend GCS virtual school will have the option to attend on their assigned day (below) from 12:30-3:00 pm

Assigned days are as follows: 
“Blue Team” students whose last names begin with the letters A-D will attend on Mon, August 17.
“Red Team” students (E-K) will attend Tues, August 18.
“Green Team” students (L-Q) will attend Wed, August 19.
“Purple Team” students (R-Z) will attend Thurs, August 20.
If your student is unable to attend on their assigned day, they may attend a make-up session on Fri, August 21.  

During their ½ day of LEAP, students will meet with teachers and the classmates who share their Attendance Plan color grouping and practice social distancing.  They will also be issued/trained/refreshed in the use of the Chromebooks and Google Classroom and take tests that are required by the state to be conducted in person to help determine their academic strengths and weaknesses.  We are also looking forward to checking on our students!

Free & Reduced Lunch Application

Lunch ApplicationOnline Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications are now available for the 2020-2021 school year. While paper applications will be provided for parents when students return to school, the online applications are by far the most accurate and efficient method to apply for Free or Reduced Priced Meals. On average, online applications are processed within 24-48 hour of completion. We highly encourage all parents to take advantage of this simple to use and fast process.

Tdap Requirement for Rising 7th Graders

Tdap Requirement

As a reminder, SC law requires that students entering 7th grade receive a dose of Tdap vaccine. Students entering the 7th grade who have NOT received the Tdap vaccine by the first day of school on August 17, 2020, will not be allowed to attend school until they have received the vaccine and provided proof to the school nurse.

If you are unsure if your child has met this requirement, please contact our school nurse, Ms. Arness, at 864-355-7007 or barness@greenville.k12.sc.us 

Athletic Announcement!

SportsIf your student is a rising 7th or 8th grader and interested in playing sports during the 2020-21 school year, please note that you will need to have a Planet HS account AND completed physical forms dated May 4, 2020, or later prior to being able to participate in any capacity.  Don't delay - set up your profile and complete your forms today so your student is ready when conditioning and try out information is released!

As a reminder, your student must be in 7th or 8th grade to participate in school sports.  Northwood plans to offer volleyball in the fall, boys' & girls' basketball in the winter, baseball and softball in the spring, and boys' and girls' soccer in the spring.  If your student is interested in any sport NOT offered by Northwood, please contact the high school you are zoned for to inquire as to eligibility.
