Soldier Care Project
Ms. Johansen's fourth grade class is participating in The Soldier Project. They will be collecting items to create care packages to send to soldiers stationed in Kuwait and Afghanistan.
Care Package Items
Below is a list that the soldiers have compiled as suggestions to what we can send to put a smile on their face and make their days a little easier. Please do not feel that you have to donate any items but we very much appreciate anything you can send! The Dollar Store is a great place to pick up supplies at a lower price. There are approximately 30 guys in the platoon.
- Personal hygiene items (shampoo, hair gel, body wash, deodorant, q-tips, etc)
- Socks (big request)
- Sunscreen
- Paper and pens, envelopes, coloring books and crayons
- Holiday/birthday/greeting cards
- Snacks/food (Easy mac-n-cheese, trail mix, coffee, powdered creamer, chips, wrapped candy, microwave popcorn, stuff to add to bottled water, etc)
- Things to decorate the barracks with
- Golf balls and other sports items to help pass down time
- Books, magazines, puzzle books
- Laundry soap
- Batteries
Please keep in mind that these items are being shipped so any food item needs to be able to sustain transportation and still be okay to eat. I was told the Little Debbie cakes/Tasty Cakes are also good to send to fulfill that sweet craving.
Donated items may be sent to Ms. Johansen's fourth grade or placed in the box in front of the office.
