Hello Golden Strip Cubs! My name is Joy Sims and I am thrilled to be your Assistant Principal. A fun fact about our school is that we are an extension of Bryson Elementary (we share the same boundary) with Principal Boggs. I am originally from Washington State (Seattle/Tacoma area) and have completed one year living in South Carolina. I can say wholeheartedly my family and I are loving the Greenville area and for us it truly is the "Land of Milk and Honey!” My husband and I have four grown sons, two of which are married, and three granddaughters, and one dog, Zoey, who is the true queen of our family!
I was born and raised in Chicago, went to college in Oklahoma (where I met my husband – a Washingtonian), and then moved to the Pacific Northwest (my husband’s home) for the next 33 years. As an educator, I taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th grades and kindergarten, was a Dean of Students and an Assistant Principal at the elementary level in Tacoma, Washington. My BA is from Oral Roberts University, Tulsa, Oklahoma, my K-8 teaching certification is from the University of Washington, Bothell, and my Master’s in School Administration is from Central Washington University. My passion is early childhood education and I am thrilled that I can be one part of creating a magical experience for your K4 child. When I’m not working with young children, I love to spend time with my family, read mystery books, travel, drink Starbucks coffee, eat copious amounts of dark chocolate, and listen to true crime podcasts.
