Our Principal

Dear Welcome Families,

My name is Dr. Wallace Cobbs, and I am honored to serve as the principal of Welcome Elementary School. Since becoming principal in August 2020, it has been a privilege to work alongside our students, families, teachers, and community partners to help make Welcome a place where students are loved, supported, and challenged to grow.

At Welcome, we are proud of our Wolves and the many ways they demonstrate their P.A.W.S. each day by being Prepared, Acting responsibly, Working as a team, and Showing respect. These values guide the way we teach, learn, lead, and care for one another. As a Leader in Me school, we also believe every child has leadership potential. Through this work, we help students build strong habits, take ownership of their learning, serve others, and grow into confident leaders in the classroom and beyond.

I am a native of Greenville County and graduated from Mauldin High School before attending Clemson University, where I earned my undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I later earned a Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Southern Wesleyan University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Leadership from Clemson University in 2025.

My career in education began as a second grade teacher at Cherrydale Elementary School. I later taught fifth grade at Pendleton Elementary before beginning my administrative journey in Anderson School District Five. I served as an assistant principal at New Prospect Elementary and North Pointe Elementary before returning to Greenville County Schools as the assistant principal at Welcome in 2019. In August 2020, I was blessed with the opportunity to become Welcome’s principal.

Outside of school, I enjoy cooking, exercising, playing video games, and watching sports, especially Clemson athletics. I also enjoy spending time with my wife, Kristan, who is an assistant principal in Greenville County.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve this school, and truly believe the best is yet to come Welcome Wolves!
