The 7 Habits of Happy Kids

Students at Welcome Elementary practice these habits every day to build leadership, kindness, responsibility, and positive relationships.

1
Habit 1

Be Proactive

I am responsible for my choices, actions, and attitude.

At home: Encourage your child to solve problems, make good choices, and use positive words.
2
Habit 2

Begin With the End in Mind

I set goals and make a plan for success.

At home: Talk about goals before starting homework, chores, sports, or family activities.
3
Habit 3

Put First Things First

I spend time on what is most important.

At home: Help your child complete important tasks before play time or screen time.
4
Habit 4

Think Win-Win

I look for solutions where everyone can feel good about the outcome.

At home: Practice sharing, taking turns, and finding fair solutions during disagreements.
5
Habit 5

Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood

I listen before I speak and try to understand how others feel.

At home: Model listening first. Ask your child to repeat what they heard before responding.
6
Habit 6

Synergize

I work together with others to achieve more than I could alone.

At home: Work as a team on family projects, chores, meals, or acts of kindness.
7
Habit 7

Sharpen the Saw

I take care of my body, mind, heart, and spirit.

At home: Support healthy habits like reading, rest, exercise, reflection, and family time.
