Principal's Weekly Message
Weekly Message for week of December 10 - 14, 2018
See the Student Page of the website for a more detailed schedule of events.
We hope all are safe and warm during this winter storm weekend. The Greenville County School’s Inclement Conditions Evaluation Team is on alert and prepared to drive county roads on Sunday or early Monday morning to assist with decision making. District leaders will make a decision about whether to hold school on Monday no earlier than Sunday afternoon and no later than 5:30am Monday.
Any school closings or delays will be announced on the GCS website, social media channels, local news channels and through the newly implemented text message system.
As stated last week, we would like to remind parents again, that the GCS Communications Department has implemented a text messaging system that will text a student's parental primary contact phone number. Parents that currently have a landline listed as their “Primary Contact Phone” and wish to receive texts about school cancellations or other emergency schedule changes must complete the attached Change in Phone Number form . Parents who already have their cellular phone listed as their child’s primary contact number will not need to take action to receive this service. A GCS TEST message was sent to parents last week.
Recent media reports have highlighted the dangers of teens using e-cigarettes, specifically Juuls, and the growing number of teens experimenting with them. I have put together a brief report on these devices, their impact on teens, and how we plan to address this trend at Sevier. Please review the attached report so you can partner with us to prevent this from becoming an issue in our community. Thank you. Safety Announcement
In the midst of “flu season” the Medical Health Services of Greenville County Schools would like to remind parents, in an effort to decrease the spread of contagious illness, to please follow the attached guidelines that allow a student to return to school after an illness.
We would like to thank all of our parent volunteers. They are tremendous help during our many school events, activities and field trips. These events would not be possible without the help of our dedicated parents. We truly appreciate our parents and their involvement. Their support is one of the many factors that make Sevier such a great school.
