Weekly Message for the Week of January 20 - 24, 2020
Good Evening Sevier Families,
We are proud to announce that Sevier will become one of the nationally recognized Schools to Watch. This accreditation is made possible from the combined effort and support of our staff, students, Sevier families, and community members. Sevier will receive both State and National Awards for this designation later this year. We will also have a celebration to formally receive our designation in the spring. Over the past 20 years, only 465 schools have earned this designation in the entire nation, this is out an estimated 98,300 schools in the United States.
We hope everyone enjoys their extended weekend as we are off Monday to celebrate the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. School resumes Tuesday.
Parents of 8th graders are invited to purchase & create 8th grade recognition ads for the yearbook. The deadline for recognitions ad orders is February 13. Orders are made through the Jostens website. Yearbooks will continue to be on sale for $35, also at the website. If you have questions, please contact Mrs. Blakely at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PTA will treat our staff to a Souper Bowl Luncheon this Friday, January 24th. Parent volunteers are needed to provide food items and their time for this event. Please use the attached Volunteer Signup link, available on our website, to learn more and to sign up.
PTA would also like to request volunteers for an ongoing staff appreciation activity. Each week PTA provides a small treat in the teacher workroom, usually consisting of bite size individually wrapped candy or snacks. Please view the Teacher Treats sign-up to learn more and consider helping.
Tryouts start February 10th for baseball, softball, girls soccer and boys soccer. 7th and 8th graders are eligible. Coaches have scheduled conditioning dates prior to tryouts. These dates and requirements are stated on the Sevier homepage and student page. Students are not allowed to participate in conditioning or tryouts until all forms and documents are completed and uploaded online in PlanetHS. Paper copies will not be accepted. Please visit our website for full details.
Parents of 6th graders are asked to begin planning for next year. All students are required to receive and provide medical documentation regarding their Tdap vaccination before entering 7th grade. Please turn in this documentation to the health room as soon as possible.
Mr. Chad Maguire, Principal
