Principal's Weekly Message

Weekly Message for week of February 1 - 15, 2019
See the Student Page of the website for a more detailed schedule of events.

Good Evening Sevier Families,

Congratulations to our students who represented Sevier in Saturday’s Black History Quiz Bowl.  Our Falcons came in 3rd Place.

Please make plans to attend our annual Falcon Flight Planning scheduled for Tuesday (2/12) at 6pm.  This is a Related Arts Review and is intended for current 5th, 6th, and 7th graders and parents to review related arts offerings so students can make informed decisions when choosing their related arts selections during the upcoming class registration for the 2019-2020 school year.    Mrs. Marsh will also host a WHHS Band Parent Information Night at 6:30pm in Sevier’s Band Room during the event.

WIDA testing will be administered to our ESOL student this week in the Media Center.  The Media Center will be closed to students after 8:30am each day.  All device issues and ID badge purchases must be addressed prior to 8:30am each day.

Progress Reports will go home with students Wednesday for your review.  These are yours to keep.  Please sign and return envelopes with your student.

Boys’ soccer tryouts resume Monday.  Our athletes on the girls soccer team should plan to attend a Parent meeting Monday after practice at 5:30pm.

Candy Grams will be on sale for $1 Monday - Wednesday before school and during lunch.  Items will be delivered to students Thursday for Valentine’s Day.

Ms. Martin’s Chorus students are reminded that all fundraising packets are due to Ms. Martin by Tuesday (2/12).

Thursday, we ask that all students help show some love to our planet by participating in our Trex Recycling Challenge No Collar Day.  Students can bring in 10 or more plastic grocery bags in exchange for a no collar privilege.

We have a few field trips this week.  Our 7th grade will attend a district wide Career Expo Tuesday and our 6th grade teams will travel to Roper Mountain Science Center on Thursday and Friday.

8th graders that completed the required forms due last week will participate in 8th Grade Job Shadowing Day on Friday.

We have a few club meeting reminders.  6th Grade Beta Club will have its first meeting on Wednesday at 8am in Rm 614.  Friday, 7th Grade Beta Club will meet in the morning at 8am and Student Council will meet after school at 3:45.

Yearbook is accepting 8th Grade yearbook ads through Friday and can be ordered online from our website through Jostons.com.  Yearbook is also accepting pictures of Sevier students participating in WHHS or GHS Sports through Friday.  Send pictures to Mrs. Blakely at ablakely@greenville.k12.sc.us.

LOOKING FORWARD:
2/18:  Presidents Day – No School
2/19:  Talent Show Dress Rehearsal
2/21:  Talent Show 6pm
