Principal's Weekly Message

Weekly Message for week of June 4 -6, 2018
See the Student Page of the website for a more detailed schedule of events.

Please join us for our Awards Day ceremonies.  The 6th Grade ceremony is Monday at 1:30pm.  The 7th Grade ceremony is Tuesday at 1:30pm and the 8th Grade ceremony is at 9:00am on Wednesday to accommodate for our half day schedule.  Students are reminded that Dress Code still applies for these last 3 days of school.  Students may dress up for awards day, but must be modest.   Low cut, open back, and spaghetti strap tops are not permitted and dresses/shirts must reach below fingertip length.

As we move forward into this final week of school, we would like to remind students and parents that a student’s attendance is required and expected.  Attendance will be taken each day.  Monday, students will complete any remaining final exams, and teachers may conduct other graded assessments during the remaining days of school.

Wednesday is our final day of school and will run on a half day schedule.  School will dismiss at 12:45pm.  Bus transportation will run and lunch will be served.  This is also the final opportunity for parents to pick up their student’s medication from the health room.  After 1:00pm Wednesday, all medications will be destroyed.

Report cards are mailed home Friday.  This year the school will provide supplies to mail report cards.  It is very important for parents/students to notify the school of changed addresses or phone numbers. Parents should contact the Counseling Department at 355-8204 as soon as possible to update student information.  All address changes require 2 proofs of residence.

All debts must be cleared for report cards to be mailed home.  Students with debts will have reminders sent home and are able to come to the school after June 8th to pick up report cards and pay for any school debts.

Beginning June 11th, our Summer Office Hours are 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday through Thursday.  The school will be closed Fridays.

This is one last reminder for 6th grade parents to send in their student’s TDap immunization record to the health room before the end of school.  This documentation is required for your child to attend school next year as a 7th grader.

Please consider donating any gently used, dress-code appropriate clothing to our Care Closet.   Items include collared shirts, jeans, fingertip length shorts, basketball shorts, Sevier shirts and PE uniforms.  Parents are welcome to bring items to the front office as they check in for Awards Day or any time during school office hours.  We encourage all 8th graders who no longer have an interest in their collared shirts & Sevier gear to contribute.

We hope you will encourage your child to continue reading over the summer.  Details about teen summer reading programs are available on our website.

This is our last Sevier messenger for the 2017-2018 school year.  I want to thank all of our Sevier Families for your support and dedication to your child’s education.  We would not be celebrating all of our student’s accomplishments without your dedication, commitment and support. I also want to personally thank you for your support in my first year at Sevier.  The Sevier family and community have been outstanding, and Sevier is one of the greatest schools I have seen.

We hope you will have a safe, happy and eventful summer.  We look forward to our students’ return in August.  Please check our website frequently over the summer for updates regarding Back to School Orientation, volleyball tryouts, high school fall sports tryouts, and other events that will occur prior to school’s commencement on August 20th.

Thank You, and Enjoy your summer.

Mr. Chad Maguire, Principal.
