Congratulations to our students who were recognized in the Duke Tip program. Names are posted on our Facebook page and website. Congratulations to Jonah Bishop Pirrone for receiving Grand Recognition and to Celtsie Price and Camden Aiken for receiving State Recognition.
Our students enjoyed Friday evening’s 8th Grade Dance. We would like to thank our 8th grade teachers and our parent and staff volunteers who worked hard to make this special evening a success.
Greenville County Schools is holding a Job Fair on Tuesday, May 22, at Duncan Chapel Elementary School from 5 - 7pm. GCS is actively recruiting and hiring for Bus Drivers, Bus Aides, Custodians, and Food Service personnel. Last Thursday, we sent out a messenger call to provide information regarding upcoming dates to cover the remainder of the school year. The complete details are on our website. We want to make sure parents are clear on our Awards Day schedule to allow time to make arrangements to attend. 6th Grade Awards Day is June 4th at 1:30pm. 7th Grade Awards Day is June 5th at 1:30pm, and 8th Grade Awards Day is June 6th at 9:00am, as this is a Half Day and the final day of school for our students.
We have a busy week ahead. Monday, all library books are due back to the Media Center. After Monday, all library books will be considered overdue.
Also on Monday, students will clean out their lockers, and our 8th grade Intro to Engineering Design students will take their End of Course Exam.
Tuesday, 6th Graders return their devices and textbooks and 8th Grade English 1 students will take the reading portion of their End of Course Exam. Yearbook staff members will stay after school Tuesday until 5:00 for their End of Year Celebration and to prepare for Friday’s Yearbook Day.
Wednesday, 7th graders return textbooks and devices and parents of 7th Graders are invited to Tea with Counselors, at 12:15pm to gain insight on student expectations as their child becomes an 8th grader next year and begins to prepare for high school.
Thursday, Recycling Club will have their final meeting at 7:45am, Algebra 1 students will take their End of Course Exam and our last Fitness Challenge will be held during wellness. Students and staff are challenged to complete 10 burpees.Friday, students are invited to participate in MP3 No Collar Day. This fundraiser helps pay for our paper and copier expenses. Students may pay $4 to bring their MP3 to school and $1 for No Collar Privilege, or $5 for both privileges.
Also on Friday, Spanish 1 students will take their End of Course Exam and 8th Graders will turn in their devices and textbooks.
To cap off Friday, we will celebrate Yearbook Day! Each grade level will dedicate a certain time together to receive and sign yearbooks. Students really look forward to this special End of the Year event. A limited supply of yearbooks is still available to purchase for $40, cash only. All payments to the school must be received by 12pm daily.
Sevier's 2018 Gateway Academy Robotics Camp is scheduled for August 6 – 9 for rising 6th - 8th graders. Registration is open through June 8th in the front office on a first come, first paid basis. Payment is $125, payable in cash or money order, turned in no later than 12pm daily. More information is on our website.
