J. Cooke

Dear Lake Forest Family,

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer!  We have been busy preparing for the year ahead. I am looking forward to the 2019-2020 school year with great excitement. Our school-wide theme this year is “Blazing a Trail of Success”.  We look forward to welcoming our happy campers to Camp Lake Forest as we embark on a trail of success.

If you are new to Lake Forest this year, I hope you will attend our New Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 6 at 6:00 pm.  Children and their parents will meet in the cafeteria for some important information about Lake Forest.  At the conclusion, families will be invited to take a tour of the school.

Meet the Teacher will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, August 15. This is a drop-in event. Classroom rosters will be posted outside classrooms at 4:00 pm that afternoon. Class assignments will not be released before that time. Parents and students will be able to visit classrooms, meet teachers, join PTA, learn about Girl/Boy Scouts, and much more! We look forward to seeing you there!

I would like to thank our PTA for the sunshade that was installed over some of our playground equipment. Because of the hard work and dedication of our Lake Forest PTA and volunteers, we were able to purchase the sunshade for our students.  I encourage you to join PTA as we start a new school year. They do so much to support our students and staff. Be on the look out for a new mural in the building thanks to PTA.

I would also like to thank Brown Family Dentistry Group on Pleasantburg Drive for sponsoring our school agendas. All 3rd-5th grade students will receive an agenda for FREE!

We look forward to providing personal devices for each 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student this year. Students in these grade levels will be issued a chromebook to use during the school day. Please look for more information to come home at the beginning of the school year.

All parents are asked to ‘Like’ Lake Forest Elementary School on Facebook and follow us on Twitter and Instagram for updates and photos! We enjoy using social media to share positive stories about LFE and upcoming events.

We have included a list of new staff members in this newsletter.  Please join me in welcoming them to our school! We would like to extend a warm welcome to Morgan Warner. She will be serving as our Administrative Assistant for the 2019-2020 school year. Morgan has extensive experience with balanced literacy and building strong, positive relationships with students. We look forward to having her as part of our family! Curry Wilson will be moving into the Assistant Principal position this school year. She served as our administrative assistant during the previous school year. She will continue to help students, staff, and families in her new position.

Let me know if I can help you in any way as we begin a new school year together.  Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we will see you soon!

Sincerely,

Julie R. Cooke
