Greenville Senior High School

Graduation 2013

Dear Parents of Graduating Seniors:

This letter and the enclosures contain graduation ceremony information for you, your son/daughter, and your invited guests.  Please read carefully the procedures and suggestions included and keep them handy to refer to as you prepare for a very important day in the life of your graduating senior--graduation from Greenville Senior High School on June 6, 2013, at 4:00 a.m. at the BiLo Center.  Doors will open one hour prior to the ceremony. Doors will close at 3:00 p.m.

There are many events which go into the preparation for graduation, therefore it is imperative that your son/daughter be aware in advance of his/her responsibility for being at all rehearsals and meetings and for complying fully with all dress and behavior procedures as outlined.

We are proud of the Class of 2013 and its accomplishments.  As we look forward to a beautiful graduation ceremony at the BiLo Center, we hope you will assist us in helping us make the students’ graduation exercise one of the most memorable events in their lives.

Tickets for graduation will be issued at the practice on June 3rd at the BiLo Center.  Each graduating senior will receive ten tickets at this time. If you would like to purchase additional tickets, Mr. LaColla will accept requests following the practice at Greenville High School on Friday, May 30th. Additional ticket price is $10.00 per ticket CASH ONLY. Tickets will not be given to any senior who still has outstanding debts.  Please make sure your son/daughter has cleared any debts due to Greenville Senior High School before May 24th. All debts must be paid to Ms. Mial prior to graduation. Once student debts have been cleared, the tickets will be issued at the Bilo Center Graduation practice on June 3rd.

Anyone needing an interpreter for the hearing impaired must inform Mr. Dom LaColla by May 17th.  If we can answer any questions for you, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Very truly yours,

JF Lucas

Principal

GRADUATION REHEARSAL NOTES 2013

A practice for graduation will be held Thursday, May 30th, at 9:00 a.m. in the Greenville Senior High School auditorium. Additional Graduation ticket requests will be accepted at this practice for $10.00 each, CASH ONLY. Graduates will receive their tickets on June 3rd at the graduation rehearsal at the Bilo Center. Tickets will not be given to any senior who still has outstanding debts.  Please make sure your son/daughter has cleared any debts due to Greenville Senior High School before May 24th.

The rehearsal at the BiLo Center will be Monday, June 3rd 2013, at 4:00 pmSeniors should arrive no later than 3:30 and bring their robes and caps with tassel to have photographs made.  They will need to wear the shoes they plan to wear at graduation.

Seniors should listen carefully to all instructions and directions so that we may make maximum use of the time allotted us for the rehearsal.  Participation in the graduation ceremony is a privilege afforded each senior; therefore, it is important that each student be at the rehearsal and conduct himself/herself appropriately.

GRADUATION CEREMONY RULES/REGULATIONS/PROCEDURES

Since graduation is a dignified and solemn occasion, graduating seniors and their guests should behave appropriately.  Please ask your guests not to call out, cheer, whistle, or applaud during the reading of names and presentation of diplomas.  Because the conduct of your guests reflects on your family, please be selective in giving your tickets to guests who recognize the seriousness of the occasion and who will conduct themselves appropriately.  Security Personnel will be instructed to remove any guests who disrupt the program.

A professional photographer will photograph each senior during the Monday, June 3rd  Graduation  practice at the BiLo Center.

Every guest, regardless of age, must have a ticket.  Because small children have little interest in a program of this kind, those under the age of six (6) should not be invited or given a ticket and should not be brought to the ceremony.  THERE WILL NOT BE A NURSERY.

Students should press their gowns well and try them on to be sure there is no problem with them.  Valuables should not be brought to the ceremony.  Students who fail to comply with the dress regulations and who appear in inappropriate clothing will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony but may receive their diploma at school the following day.

GIRLS should wear light-colored dresses no longer than the robe with neck lines no higher than the collar, White or Red Shoes (not sandals or platforms), flesh-colored hose, tiny (or no) earrings with no other jewelry.  (NO GUM, PLEASE!)

BOYS should wear dark trousers (no jeans), white dress shirt, long dark tie, dark socks, and dark dress shoes (no tennis shoes, deck shoes, sandals, boots).  (NO GUM, PLEASE!)

Students should wear their caps flat on their head--not to the back or side.  During the ceremony, girls will not remove their caps.  Boys, however, will remove their caps during the presentation of colors and the Alma Mater.  (They will have an opportunity to practice this at the rehearsal.)

OBLIGATIONS/DEBTS/ETC.

Each senior is responsible for clearing ALL outstanding obligations, debts, etc.  All debts must be cleared with their teachers on or before Friday, May 24th .  Arrangements to pay debts past May 24th must be made with Ms. Mial. Debts include art fees, lab fees, locks, books, library fines, uniforms, class dues, picture money, fundraising money, transcript fees, and any other obligation which has not been cleared up (even from previous years).  Seniors are encouraged not to wait until the last day to take care of these obligations, but to clear them up as soon as possible.  Tickets for graduation will be given to seniors at the Monday, June 3rd Graduation Practice at the Bilo Center, but no tickets will be given to seniors who have not paid all debts and financial obligations.. All debts must be paid to Ms. Mial prior to graduation. Once student debts have been cleared, the tickets will be issued at Graduation Practice at the Bilo Center on June 3rd.

GRADUATION DAY REMINDERS

Seniors should be at the BiLo Center no later than 3:00 p.m. on June 3rd, and should report to the designated area for line-up.  They should allow enough time to be there by 2:30 p.m. so that unforeseen traffic problems, car trouble, etc. will not cause them to be late or to take unnecessary risks.

Seniors should remember that graduation is a dignified ceremony--one that they will want to remember with pride at the end of their high school career.  In this kind of ceremony, as in a church service, any unsolicited applause, catcalls, whistles, and any other type of noise is inappropriate behavior.

Seniors should also keep in mind that School District Discipline Code Regulations are in effect during both rehearsal and graduation, and that they are responsible for conducting themselves according to these guidelines.  Students whose conduct is inappropriate will have their diploma withheld until a meeting is held with their parents on the following day.

TICKET INFORMATION

Tickets for graduation will be issued at the practice on June 3rd following the BiLo Center graduation rehearsal. Each student will receive 10 tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $10.00 each on the May 30th rehearsal following graduation rehearsal at Greenville High School.
