Perfect Attendance Redefined

Greenville County is implementing a new attendance practice for 2016-2017 as outlined below. Please know that this will affect awards at the end of the year. We wanted you to be aware of the change as soon as possible.

Perfect Attendance Criteria:
The definition of an absence at a Greenville County Middle School is missing more than one-half of any singular class period for which a student is enrolled, or multiple class periods for which a student is enrolled, during a school day. An absence in any part of the school day for a minimum of more than one-half class period, even if the student was present for all other portions of that same school day, by definition excludes a student from being determined to have Perfect Attendance.

Please contact our attendance clerk or your grade level counselor if you have any questions.

Important reminders from the Health Room

Parents,

Please send in the Emergency Forms that were sent home the first week of school. We need these forms to better serve your child. A signed form is required for Emergency treatment if hospital care is needed.

We also need this form to ensure up to date contact information to reach a parent in case of an illness or emergency.

Medications- There are no medications allowed in school without a written note. A parent note for over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen, and a physician's order for prescription medication. This includes Inhalers, ADHD medications, and Epi-pens.

If your child has health needs during school hours, please contact the health room so we can set up a plan of care.

We are here to help your child be successful at Greer Middle. Please feel free to contact either of the nurses for any questions or assistance.

English Language Resource for Parents

There is a new program available to parents who would like to learn English and become more involved in their child’s academic achievement. The program is free to parents and is on a first come first serve basis. Rosetta Stone® Community Solution for K-12 is a program available to the parents of our English Language Learners. This program will provide the parents of our English Language Learners with an opportunity to learn and develop their English Language skills. It will also enable parents to increase their engagement in their child’s school and contribute to improving their child’s educational achievement. The online lessons from Rosetta Stone® Community Solution for K-12 allow parents to use this program at home, work, on their phone, or anywhere they have access to the internet.

If you would like to have access to this program, please contact your child’s ESOL teacher. The ESOL teacher will be able to provide you with a code to access the program and share general log-in instructions.

Car Rider Pick Up and Drop Off
Sixth Grade Car Riders are dropped off in the front of the school starting at 7:30 AM. Afternoon pick up starts at 3:20 pm. Seventh and Eighth grade car riders are dropped off and picked up in the rear of the school. Your student will be given a car system number that is used to notify the classroom to dismiss all car riders in an orderly  fashion. Your patience and cooperation is greatly appreciated in making this safety system work at our school.
