Sevier Middle School is one of the finest schools of which I have had the privilege to be a part. A brief introduction: I was raised in Hampton, Virginia, and attended Old Dominion University, where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation, I worked for Newport News Shipbuilding, where I was involved in refueling the nuclear reactors on Nimitz class aircraft carriers and Los Angeles 688 class submarines.
I later relocated to Florida to pursue a career in education, teaching both middle and high school mathematics. During my thirteen years in Florida, I met my wife, Mindy, who was also a mathematics teacher. We both worked for Volusia County Schools, and in 2003, I earned my National Board Certification in Early Adolescence Mathematics.
We are proud parents of two wonderful children. Our daughter, Madison, is a student at East Tennessee State University, where she is pursuing a degree in Forensic Accounting. Our son, Hunter, attends the University of South Carolina, where he is majoring in Mathematics Education and performs as a tenor saxophonist in the university's nationally recognized marching band, The Mighty Sound of the Southeast.
In August 2007, we relocated to Greer so Mindy could stay home with our children, and I began teaching 8th-grade mathematics at Greer Middle School. In December 2011, I earned a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. During the summer of 2012, I joined the Sevier Middle School family as an Assistant Principal, where I have had the opportunity to serve students, staff, and families ever since.
