Dear Parents of Pelham Road Elementary,
My name is Mrs. Kristy Qualls and I am the proud principal of Pelham Road Elementary School! I am truly humbled and blessed to be a part of an outstanding school community with a strong reputation for academic success and parental support. The outstanding work that has been accomplished at Pelham Road speaks to your dedication and commitment in collaborating with the school. I share your drive and passion for excellence!
On a personal note, I have been married to my husband, Damon Qualls for 10 years. He is also an elementary school principal in our district! Mr. Qualls is principal at Monaview Elementary School. We enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends during my free time. I also enjoy exercising, shopping, and seafood!
I am also a Clemson fan! I received my undergraduate degree from Clemson in Early Childhood Education – Go Tigers! I also have a Master’s degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning and a Master’s in School Leadership from Furman University. I have been dedicated to public education and Greenville County Schools for more than 17 years. My teaching career began at Alexander Elementary School as a classroom teacher, mostly in 3rd grade. After eight years at Alexander, I was recruited and the first teacher hired at A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School in downtown Greenville in 2010. I taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade. My administrative journey also began at AJ Whittenberg! I was named Administrative Assistant in 2012 and I served in this role for 3 years before transitioning to Welcome Elementary School as Assistant Principal for the 2015-2016 school year. Thereafter, in 2016, I was named principal of Pelham Road.
It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve you and your family as principal for the 4th year! This year promises to be another year where great memories will be made, new friendships will be formed, and new learning will take place! Like the teachers and staff, I stand ready to assist and support you and your family. You can reach me by email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 864-355-7610 with any questions or concerns that you may have.
Hello All Star Families!
I am thrilled to begin the 21st year of my education journey back to where it all began! In 1997 I completed my student teaching experience in a first grade classroom at Pelham Road Elementary. I was then offered my first teaching job in that very same open classroom for the following school year. For 17 years I taught first, second, and third grades in various locations and settings. Each year stretched my passion for serving the families and communities of Greenville County Schools. After completing my master's degree in Educational Administration at The University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!), I have spent the past 3 years serving Sara Collins Elementary as Administrative Assistant. I can not express the excitement I have about bringing those experiences and lessons learned back to Pelham Road. The love I have for this school and community has not diminished. Once an All Star, always an All Star!
Personally, little has changed since I left Pelham Road. I am still married to Chris who is now worship pastor at Freedom Fellowship in Greer. We live in beautiful Blue Ridge with our sons Tad and Grant, and our dog Hatch. Tad is 18 and a freshman at Anderson University. Grant is 14 and a freshman at Blue Ridge High School. We are all very involved in our church and love following our favorite sports teams - our Gamecocks, the Tennessee Titans, and the Boston Red Sox.
I can not wait to get to know our All Star families so we can continue promoting and enhancing a positive, safe, learning environment for all of our students.
Please feel free to reach out to me via email or by phone. I look forward to meeting you.
