Dear Parents of Pelham Road Elementary,

My name is Kristy Qualls and I am the proud principal of Pelham Road Elementary School! I am truly humbled and blessed to be a part of an outstanding school community with a strong reputation for academic success and parental support. The outstanding work that has been accomplished at Pelham Road speaks to your dedication and commitment in collaborating with us. I share your drive and passion for excellence. When I am not at school, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, shopping (especially high heels), and eating at new restaurants in town.

I am also a Clemson fan! I received my undergraduate degree from Clemson in Early Childhood Education – Go Tigers! I also have a Master’s degree from Columbia College in Divergent Learning and a Master’s in School Leadership from Furman University. I have been dedicated to public education and Greenville County Schools since I was a student myself. I am a proud product of Greenville County Schools. My teaching career began at Alexander Elementary School as a classroom teacher, mostly in 3rd grade. After eight years at Alexander, I was recruited and the first teacher hired at A.J. Whittenberg Elementary School in downtown Greenville. I taught 2nd grade and 3rd grade. My administrative journey also began at AJ Whittenberg where I served as Administrative Assistant for 3 years before transitioning to Welcome Elementary School as Assistant Principal for a year.

It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve you and your family as principal! This year promises to be another year where great memories will be made, new friendships will be formed, and new learning will take place! Dear All Stars,

I am thrilled to be part of the Pelham Road Elementary family and to serve this incredible community of learners. It is a privilege to support a school where students are at the heart of every decision, and where academic excellence and strong relationships are valued.

I began my career in education teaching 3rd and 4th grade in Anderson School District One. I later joined Greenville County Schools at Summit Drive Elementary, where I taught 3rd grade before becoming an ADEPT Teacher Leader, supporting teachers in instructional growth. My leadership journey continued at East North Street Academy as the Administrative Assistant and then as Assistant Principal for the Greenville County Virtual Program. These experiences have shaped my belief that every child can succeed when given the right tools, support, and encouragement.

Outside of school, I enjoy cheering on the South Carolina Gamecocks, traveling, reading, and spending time by the water—whether it's at the lake or the beach. My greatest joy is spending time with my husband and our two beautiful daughters.
