Students who choose to participate in the LEAP program, will benefit from additional instruction delivered by a Gateway teacher. During their half-day of LEAP, students will meet their teachers and the classmates who share their attendance plan color grouping and practice social distancing. They will also be issued, trained and refreshed in the use of the Chromebooks and Google Classroom and take tests that are required by the state to be conducted in person to help determine their academic strengths and weaknesses. This will allow their teacher to begin planning specialized instruction for each student prior to the first official day of school. Breakfast and lunch will be served each day to students in the LEAP program. Due to COVID-19 safety protocols, parents will not be allowed to walk their children to class. Students who attend must be enrolled in GCS to attend LEAP. Transportation will be provided to those who completed their transportation forms by July 15 and requested bus service. Parents should visit the GCS website or call 355-3111 to learn how to enroll their children if they were not in GCS last year or for information on requesting bus transportation. Gateway will make every effort to place students with their regularly assigned teacher for the 20-21 school year. We strongly encourage you to allow your child to participate in this half day instructional opportunity! Please email Marcie Bunch @ firstname.lastname@example.org or call 864-355-5202 , if you would like to register your child to attend the LEAP program the week of August 17th. The deadline to register is Monday, August 10th. We hope to see everyone during our LEAP week!
Here is a link to the new 2020-21 online transportation request form. We are asking for a completed form for all students so we can efficiently plan for how students will arrive and depart our campuses daily. It is particularly important for students who have moved or changed schools to have a form completed. Car riders, walkers, bicyclists, and daycare bus riders are also required to complete this form. In order to ensure school bus transportation on the first day of school, forms are due by July 15th. School bus requests submitted after July 15th will not be routed until after Labor Day in the order they were received. If you cannot access the form, please call 355-5200 and office staff will fill out the form on your behalf.
