Seventh Grade Science and the PlastiVan Program
The PlastiVan Program was a great way to WOW students about science and the vast opportunities the plastics industry has to offer through a hands-on lab in class. The PlastiVan program talked about plastics chemistry, history, processing, manufacturing, sustainability and applications. The students learned about molecules with blowing up a balloon and sticking a skewer though the polymer chains. Next the students experiments and watched demonstrations involving chemical and physical changes. They had a variety of questions stemming from the demonstrations and the urethane "mushrooms" were quite a hit.
