Letter from the Principal

Greetings Greer High School Family:

Welcome to Greer High School!  My family and I are humbled and honored to be here at Greer, and as principal, I look forward to doing everything I can to ensure that you have an incredible experience during this school year.  Each school year offers an exciting opportunity for students, parents, and educators to commit themselves to having a successful year.

We are looking forward to a great year full of learning, sharing, and excitement!  Our primary goal is for every student at GHS to have a great school year that will allow them the opportunity to grow both socially and educationally.  We have a great high school and we are looking forward to having you and your child as a part of our community.  We want to create a partnership with all of our parents to ensure the success of our students at Greer High School.

At Greer High School, where our school slogan is “Where Tradition Gives Rise to Excellence,” we have a long standing tradition of excellence in our three pillars of focus:  academics, athletics, and the arts.  We are a tradition-rich, community-based school with opportunities for every student to be successful.  We offer programs with a college and career focus such as Agriculture, Manufacturing, Heath Science, PLTW, AP, IB, Dual-Credit, and Virtual Enterprise.  Our athletic and Fine Arts programs are steeped in both tradition and excellence.  We also have developed a culture of service and teamwork that is evident through programs such as Service Learning and Peer Tutoring.  The diversity of our program offerings is outstanding and we want all of our students to get “plugged in” to an organization or team where they can utilize their talents, learn, grow, build valuable relationships, develop strong social skills, and build confidence and belief in themselves.  What a great opportunity it is to be a Greer High Yellow Jacket!

Parents, during this school year, I would encourage you to engage yourself in the educational process. Take time to visit Greer High School and meet the administration and school staff.  I would also highly encourage you to attend back-to-school events (such as PTSA Open House) and meet your child’s teachers.  Stay informed of your child’s academic progress, attendance, etc. through Parent Portal.  Read Connected, your one-stop resource from the Greenville Central Office for back-to-school information, including the school calendar, attendance requirements, student behavior code, and transportation.

I look forward to working with each of you.  If there is anything that I can do to assist you or your child, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,

Justin Ludley, Principal
