Payment Procedures

Only Summer Term requires a fee.  GCVSP courses in Fall & Spring are free to GCS Students.

During Fall & Spring terms, schools may "embed" GCVSP supplemental virtual courses in their master schedule and these are free to students. Check with your GCS school to find out if embedded virtual classes are available at your school. GCVSP accepts embedded students who are enrolled in either a regular GCS brick/mortar school or the Full Virtual option. Students may also take courses outside of the school day.

The payment of a fee is required in Summer term. Only students currently enrolled in regular GCS brick/mortar schools, or the Full Virtual option, are eligible to take GCVSP supplemental courses. In Summer term the School Counselor will give students specific instructions on registration and payment. The first tasks for a counselor are to determine if the student is taking the class as initial credit (first time) or repeating it, and whether he/she is Non-PIP or PIP (Pupil in Poverty) since these factors affect the payment amount. 

GCVSP Payment Procedures

Paying Online

  1. School Counselor first determines if the student has a NON-PIP or a PIP classification. (PIP = Pupil in Poverty status)
    1. NON-PIP students pay $125 per course regardless of level of course or unit value.
    2. PIP students pay $25 per course regardless of level of course or unit value.
  2. Then, the School counselor must EMAIL the appropriate Online Payment document to the parent. The Online Payment document has both instructions for how to use MySchoolBucks to pay online with a credit card* as well as the link that must be used. The document, with the link, are NOT available to the general public. It can only be distributed by the student's School Counselor.
  3. If a student wishes to take more than one course, complete the information for the first class, add it to the cart, and then go back to the link and enter the information for the second course.  Add it to the cart and then check out.
  4. Payment must be confirmed by the deadline posted on the website.
  5. All initial courses in summer term are either $125 for Non-PIP students or $25 for PIP students regardless of the unit value or level of the course.

*Students who cannot pay online should request an alternate method of payment from their School Counselor.

Repeating a course

Students who are repeating a course in summer term, for any reason, are required to pay the full $125 fee. If the student is repeating a course, the School Counselor will email a different payment document to the parent. It is strongly suggested that if the student failed a course, that he/she look closely at the VirtualSC option which is free for Credit Recovery. GCVSP does not offer Credit Recovery.

If any student is confused and/or needs clarification, he or she should consult with their School Counselor before registering or paying for a GCVSP course.
