News & Notes

From the School Nurse

The last full day of school for the students is June 5. School District policy requires me to destroy medications that are not picked up at the end of the school year. If your child’s medications are not picked up by 12:00 p.m. on June 6, I will have to destroy them.

For safety reasons I cannot send medications home with students. Parents/guardians must pick up the medications. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 355-1207.

Returning to School after Illness

In an effort to decrease the spread of contagious illness at school, Greenville County School District would like to remind you:

If your student has fever, he/she must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school (this means without the use of fever reducing medications). Fever is defined as a temperature of 100.4 or greater.

If your student has diarrhea, he/she must be diarrhea free for 24 hours before returning to school (this mean without the use of diarrhea suppressing medication). Diarrhea is defined as 3 or more episodes of loose stools in a 24 hour period.

A student must not come to school if vomiting 2 or more times in 24 hours.  A student should have 1 or 2 meals without vomiting before returning to school.

If you have questions concerning your student’s health, please contact the school nurse at 355-1207. Thank you for your assistance in decreasing the spread of illness.

Partnership with Greenville Journal

We are excited to announce a new partnership with the Greenville Journal to showcase our award-winning students, staff, and schools in a way that’s never been done before! The Journal has created a Greenville County Schools section on their website where parents and other community members can watch videos, view photos, link to our website and Facebook page, and find information on special topics such as the Strategic Education Plan. Our first e-publication of Class Acts has been posted here.

ACE School Policy Reminder

Students must store mobile phones, Gizmos, iWatches, etc. in book bags during school hours. Students can take the devices home after school, but they cannot have them out during the school day. If the technology makes a noise in the classroom, the device will be sent to the office. Please help us remind students about this policy.
