Washington Center’s Hollis location was established in 2011 as an extension of the main campus. Early intervention for young students with severe and profound intellectual disabilities is provided in an adapted wing of the Hollis Academy building. In addition to six classrooms, three currently in use, students and staff have access to a multisensory suite, therapy room, office complex, and nurse’s station. The Hollis program is staffed with an administrator, three teachers, six paraprofessionals, a nurse and an orderly. Students are also served by physical, occupational and speech therapists; and, the environmental science and daily living skills teachers from the main campus, as well as the media specialist, provide weekly instruction on site.
As on the main campus, students are encouraged to explore and develop age and/or developmentally appropriate academic skills and ones leading to independent functioning. Each child has an individually developed program based upon his or her unique needs, and the school works closely with families to support the young children being served.
I-385 NORTH (DOWNTOWN): Take I-385 N to Downtown Greenville. Turn right onto Hwy 123-Academy Street loop. Stay on Academy to Pendleton Street. (Academy changes to Easley Bridge Road.) Go through second traffic light and turn left onto Second Avenue. Follow Second Avenue until it curves onto Eighth Street. Turn right on Hawkins St. (This is the Hollis Academy entrance). Turn right on Goodrich St. (Entrance to Washington Center @ Hollis Academy campus is in the bus loop).
I-85 SOUTH: Take I-85 S towards Atlanta and get off at White Horse Road (Hwy 25) exit. Turn right onto White Horse Road. Go about 3-1/2 miles. Turn right onto Hwy 123-Easley Bridge Road. Go about 1 mile. Turn right onto Second Avenue. Follow Second Avenue until it curves onto Eight Street. Turn right on Hawkins St. (This is the Hollis Academy entrance). Turn right on Goodrich St. (Entrance to Washington Center @ Hollis Academy campus is in the bus loop).
WHITE HORSE ROAD (25 SOUTH): Take White Horse Road south past Graceland cemetery. Bear left onto Washington Avenue. At first stop light turn left onto Easley Bridge Road (Hwy 123). Go through two stop lights and turn right onto Second Avenue. Follow Second Avenue until it curves onto Eight Street. Turn right on Hawkins St. (This is the Hollis Academy entrance). Turn right on Goodrich St. (Entrance to Washington Center @ Hollis Academy campus is in the bus loop).
EASLEY: Hwy 124 turns into Easley Bridge Road. About 1 mile past White Horse Road, turn right onto Second Avenue. Follow Second Avenue until it curves onto Eight Street. Turn right on Hawkins St. (This is the Hollis Academy entrance). Turn right on Goodrich St. (Entrance to Washington Center @ Hollis Academy campus is in the bus loop).
