We are all getting very excited about next week’s Challenge Day at Bob Jones; and, this week residents from Greenville Health System, led by Dr. Blakely Amati, whose mother, Mary Andrews, was a long time employee of Washington Center, were at school to provide free physicals for students for whom they were requested. Our thanks to the group of physicians who help us out with this every year as we prepare for Challenge Day.
This week we had classes studying the constitution, planets, and science tools. Some of our students made apple cupcakes while others sorted plants and enjoyed the sensory table in Ms. Cathy’s Environmental Science class, and some groups learned about the 100th anniversary of Converse shoes. Ms. Poole’s class at Hollis conducted an investigation to determine which tennis shoes had the best gripper soles and Converse won. Ms. Cook’s class read our focus book for this year, The Energy Bus, and talked about making every day one filled with positive energy. On Wednesday SIC met and today we had our September fire drill. Hopefully everyone received an interim progress report this week, and our word of the week continued to be “want”. Everyone needs to keep practicing on that one.
Next week, in addition to Challenge Day on Friday, we will be making school pictures on the main campus on Tuesday the 26th and at Hollis on the 27th. We also have folks coming for dog therapy next week, and on Saturday, September 30, the PTA is having a fund raiser sponsored by Barre 3, with our own Nadia Lloyd leading the session, and Tropical Smoothie Café where our PTA will receive a percent of the profits. Both businesses are at Five Forks, and we hope lots of you will come out to support the event from 10-2. Also, don’t forget about your Cherrydale Farms orders, and please continue to send in any nominations you may have for SIC.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday.
