I think we are all happy to see the pretty weather returning, and we are looking forward to our trip to Bob Jones University on September 29 for our annual Challenge Day. We hope any of you who are available will join us. Thanks to Linda Hill, Cindy Brown, and Cindy’s substitute, Brendon Long, for all they are doing to get everything ready for the trip. By the way, if you have not met Brendon, I hope you will stop by to see him. He has been with us since the beginning of the year while Cindy Brown is out on medical leave, and he is doing a great job. We are very fortunate to have him here.
This week classes were busy with instructional topics such as discussions of Patriot’s Day, Rules and football; and, the word for the week that everyone is working on saying, signing and using is “want”, so parents may want to reinforce that at home. Teachers have websites up and newsletters ready, so check those out to see what is going on in your student’s class. Today our first newsletter for the year went out for teachers to send home and the Spanish version will be available next week. Thanks to Barbara Bingham for her work on that project.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, September 19th and 20th, doctors from Greenville Health System will be here to perform physicals needed for participation in Challenge Day. Wednesday at 1 SIC will hold their first meeting, and Friday we will have our September fire drill. On Thursday teachers will send home interim progress reports. The following week school pictures will be made on the main campus on Tuesday, September 26, and at Hollis on Wednesday, September 27.
We are still taking nominations for SIC; PTA is still accepting memberships; and, we hope soon to hear that the availability of gas has been restored so that in October we can begin our community based trips. Don’t forget to check out the Cherrydale Farms catalog and get a head start on your Christmas shopping.
That’s it for us. Have a great weekend.
