We had a major event on Monday evening when, at their 10th annual awards gala, Greenville Women Giving presented us with a check for $35,450 to go toward the construction of the nature trail we have planned for the property behind us. We are beyond grateful to these ladies for their support, as we are for the support we have received from schools and individuals. We think our students will have a wonderful nature trail to enjoy which we hope to begin work on after Eastside High School’s Spirit Week in the fall.
Last night several of our staff members attended the district’s Salute to Education where Julie Dail, our teacher of the year, was recognized; and also, yesterday at school we had a wedding shower for two of our staff members, Robert Poole and Kim Skipper, who will be married this summer. SIC met on Wednesday, and during the week classes were out and about at restaurants, stores and parks in that this was the last week for CBI trips. Today we had visitors from the Greenville Animal Shelter visiting with some of their puppies --- one of them a really cute black lab named Bashful.
Please check your email for the latest edition of the school newsletter. It was published this week thanks to the efforts of Linda Thigpen, and in it you will see a list of Seagull Award winners for each class.
Coming up we have Community Day next Friday, a student holiday on May 30, short days on May 31st, June 1 and 2, and graduation on June 1. Also, please mark your calendar for our Meet the Teacher event on August 15 from 1-3. It will be here before you know it.
Take care and everyone have a good weekend. Hopefully we will get some pretty weather next week.
