We had a great trip to Wade Hampton High School on Tuesday of this week. The students were well behaved and enthusiastic, and the Wade Hampton folks were beyond gracious and welcoming. We loved their production of “The Ugly Duckling”, and we especially appreciated the way they interacted with our kids while we were at the school.

Thursday we had a shower to celebrate the anticipated arrival of Barbara Bingham’s baby with a shower --- lots of presents and food. Best wishes to Barbara and her family. We look forward to hearing of the arrival of their new baby girl later next month. While she is out, Mr. Rick Almeida has agreed to serve as substitute administrator for Washington Center at Hollis.

This week, also, our staff members all participated in a book study with a discussion of the book, Who Moved My Cheese? We thought the topic was pretty relevant as things are constantly changing in the field of education. Thanks to Linda Hill and Barbara Bingham for serving as facilitators.

Today Kim Skipper’s Hollis class delivered books collected during the Christmas season to the Phoenix Center. This is a great way for our students to have the opportunity to give as well as to receive. Many thanks to those of you who contributed the books they were able to give away.

Next week Syble Hendricks, our secretary, will start an extended medical leave, so please welcome Carolyn Griggs who will be here with us until Syble returns. We will miss Syble but are excited about having Carolyn with us. Some of you may have met her when she substituted for us several years ago.

This week, in addition to the trip to Wade Hampton, we had groups going shopping, out to eat and bowling. Next week we hope the good weather will hold because we have a couple of classes going to Conestee Park to picnic, others going to the Children’s Little Theater, and of course several classes going shopping and out to eat. Also next week, progress reports will go home on Thursday, and barring any bad weather, there will be no school on Friday.

I hope everyone has plans for the Spring Break and that you have marked your calendar for April 9th for the PTA’s 5KRun, Walk and Roll which will be held at Furman.

That sums it up for us. Have a fun weekend.
