A big congratulations go out today to one of our teachers, Virginia Hirschey, who was married in Charleston this afternoon. Best wishes to Virgina and her new husband, Taylor Cook.
Also, we send many thanks to students from the Governor’s School for the Performing Arts for coming to Washington Center today for an Instrument Zoo. This was a great opportunity for our folks to see and hear a variety of instruments, and we appreciate the Governor’s School students sharing their knowledge and their talent with us. On Tuesday, the dog therapy folks were here, and we always love having them come with their pets.
I want to tell you about a great opportunity we have for basketball fans. The Bons Secours Center folks have given us a block of tickets for the upcoming Harlem Globe Trotters game which will be on Saturday, March 19 at 2 pm. If you would like two tickets, one for your Washington Center student and one for an adult who will accompany the student to the game, please fill out the form that we sent home, and send it back. If we have more requests than tickets, we will have a drawing, so let us know if this is something you might like to do.
This week groups were out and about town visiting the Bon Secours Wellness Arena and the Fire Department, bowling, shopping and going out to eat in restaurants; and, Thursday we had our partial and full lock down drills and a fire drill with a blocked entrance. Also, IEP team meetings and testing have continued. Next week classes will be busy as well, and on Tuesday, we will all be going to Wade Hampton High School to see their drama group’s performance of “Ugly Duckling”. Parents are encouraged to attend with our students at no charge if you are available.
On Wednesday of next week our SIC will meet and Friday will end the third quarter --- can you believe it? Don’t forget to move your clocks forward on the 13th, as we will be starting daylight savings time. Also, I know everyone is looking forward to spring break beginning on the 25th---assuming no bad weather.
Have a great weekend!
