We here at school are enjoying these beautiful spring days, and many classes have taken the opportunity to get out in the community for lunch, for shopping, for horseback riding and for the zoo.  We even had our May fire drill this week.    The dog therapy people were here on Tuesday, and we are beginning to finish up with IEP meetings and individual testing.  Next week will be especially fun in that we have Community Day on Friday, and Amy Garbe and her committee have worked very hard to have  a number of guests here to share information with students about their jobs.

I need to let you know that services for our student, DeQuan Gambrell, will be Saturday, tomorrow, at 11 at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary.  We send our deepest condolences to DeQuan’s family, and we will be placing a book in our media center in his honor.

Next year Washington Center is scheduled for a technology “refresh”, so we have a committee that is preparing to start on revisions to the school’s technology plan.  Also,  next week both SIC and PTA will be meeting --- SIC on Tuesday at 11:30 and PTA on Thursday at 1:30.  Also, on May 19th we will have North Greenville University students here for a tour.

Everyone mark your calendars for Monday, May 25 in that we will be out of school that day.  Also, some of you may be interested in   a free 25th anniversary celebration of the passage of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) which is going to  be held on Friday, June 5 from 12-2:30 at Fluor Field.

We are finishing up a great year here at school and are already planning for our next one.   Please share any suggestions you might have about how we might better serve our students and families.  We want each school year to be the best ever, and every year to be better than the last.  The more ideas we have to consider, the better we will be.
