We have had another good week here at school. I think Dr. Williams was able to complete almost all of the hearing screenings, and PTA met to plan for this year’s Walk and Roll. They will be hosting this year’s event at Furman, and in addition to a walk, there will also be a 5K run which it is hoped will attract some of the area runners. Also this week, Linda Thigpen and I presented at a Lunch and Learn at the Center for Developmental Services and were able to tell folks from various Greenville County agencies about the wonderful students and staff we have here and about many of the interesting things going on.
Next week the SIC will meet on Tuesday at 11:30, and I hope some of you will consider running for the council for this year. We very much want parent involvement and will be holding an election soon to add some new folks to the board. On Monday of next week we will have visitors from the State Department coming to visit classes and observe the work students are doing, and some of our classes will be going out on their first field trips.
If you have not joined PTA, I hope you will do so as the membership drive is ongoing and we would like to have as many families as possible to join and support this organization. Also, some of our classes are collecting soup labels and box tops, so if you could send any you accumulate into Denise in the office, she will get them to the right place.
Have a restful weekend, and I look forward to getting everyone back on Monday.
