I know we are all looking forward to the upcoming long weekend, and I hope you have something special planned for your family.

We have had some sad news this week in that Janet Lage’s father passed away on Thursday after a fall he experience the previous day.  Janet has gone to Minnesota to be with her family but expects to be back at school on Monday.  Please keep the Lage’s in your thoughts and prayers.

We have had a good week here at school, and today we hosted a group of Wade Hampton High School students who came for a tour.  They were very attentive young people, and our kids here were thrilled to have the attention.

Teachers are beginning to plan for their Community Based Training programs which will begin in October, and some classes have already locked down plans for swimming, horseback riding and other off campus activities.  Next week we will have hearing screenings conducted, and on Tuesday the dog therapy ladies will be here with their pets.

This week’s PTA meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday of next week at 1; and on Thursday, Linda Thigpen and I will be making a presentation on Washington Center for the Greenville CAN group’s Lunch and Learn.

Linda Hills asks that I thank parents who have returned Special Olympics medical forms and remind everyone that the doctors will be here on September 17 to conduct the physicals.  Also, there have been questions from some parents who did not receive forms, and Ms. Hill wanted me to let you know that the physicals only have to be updated every three years. If you didn’t get anything to complete, most likely your student’s physical is current.

That is the news from here.  We are still asking everyone to fill out the Free and Reduced lunch applications, and if you have not already done so, you may want to load the Remind app in your phone.

Take care, and we will look forward to having everyone back on Tuesday.
