It has been a short, but busy, week here at school. For those who may not know, Dr. Rogers has been out this week due to a death in her family. I know you all join us in sending condolences to her and her family.
Our first ever Science Days on Thursday and Friday were a great success with many activities available for our students and for two visiting classes from Sara Collins. In addition to teacher lessons, students also had opportunities for rock mining, observing in the sky lab, and animal therapy. Many thanks to Samantha Stansell and Katherine Gantt for coordinating this event.
CBI trips this week included a trip to Target and to The History Museum of the Upstate. On Thursday, Washington Center received both the Campaign Award of Advancement and the Campaign Award of Excellence from the United Way for our staff donations.
Next week, we will have a Lunch and Learn regarding Medicaid benefits on Wednesday, Feb. 3, at the main campus…this begins at noon. Please be sure to let your child’s teacher know if you plan to attend. PTA will meet on Thursday at 1:00. We are also looking forward to our Valentine Pageant for 11th and 12th graders on Feb. 12, beginning at 9:30. Students from Shannon Forrest will act as escorts for our participants.
The district’s February Job Fair is scheduled for Wednesday, February 3, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Wade Hampton High School. This will be a Bus Driver/Bus Aide Job Fair only.
I hope you can get out and enjoy the upcoming warmer weekend and we’ll see you back next week.
