Washington Center students and staff recognized the Greenville City Police Department Crime Response Team, headed by Sergeant Irick with a surprise appreciation party.  Eight officers came to the school expecting a visit with a single class, but were met in the cafeteria with an enthusiastic crowd.  The officers were given a framed artwork that included the school's mascot, the seagulls, created by the students.  Each class presented special projects to honor the officers.  Special mention was made of fallen Officer Allen Jacobs who was among the force protecting the school with daily walk-thorough surveillances.  A monetary donation was made for the Jacobs family by the Washington Center staff.  A dance and personal thanks completed the festivities.  Teacher Elizabeth Piper organized the event.
