Washington Center students, families and staff recently celebrated the 23rd annual Challenge Day on the Bob Jones University campus.  Challenge Day is designated as the Special Olympics Developmental Games designed specifically for Washington Center’s students.  The Greenville County Recreation Department helps to coordinate and sponsor the event along with community business support.  The audience was inspired watching the Washington Center students and their dedicated Bob Jones volunteers celebrate accomplishments and friendships during the day’s festivities.  The rousing "Parade of Athletes"opened the event, welcomed by Bob Jones University Executive Vice President of Operations, Mr. Marshall Franklin, followed by athletic events and carnival town fun.  Washington Center students participated in the opening ceremonies: Gregory Morgan lead the Pledge of Allegiance, Matthew Hudson repeated the Special Olympic Oath followed by the Passing of the Flame of Hope by student Torchbearers Austin Mark, Yash Math, Marge Bexfield, Xavier Lindsey and Tiara Moore.  The Awarding of Olympic Medals Ceremony applauded each student’s abilities and accomplishments.  Big thanks goes to Adaptive Physical Education Teacher, Cindy Brown for preparing the students and coordinating the inspiring event.
