Mrs. Jennifer Ensley’s Washington Center class had an eventful February! Mardi Gras took place on Tuesday, February 13th, and the class read Unique Learning System’s News-2-You article about Mardi Gras in order to learn more about the celebration. Students learned about the three colors which represent Mardi Gras: Purple (Justice), Gold (Power), and Green (Faith). Students also participated in several cultural activities surrounding Mardi Gras. They made masks with colorful feathers, flowers, and beads. Students also made mini-King cakes, which were a big hit!
Mrs. Ensley’s class has taken several Community Based Instruction (CBI) trips to various destinations including Home Depot, Target, and Wade Hampton Lanes. Students are practicing their purchasing and social skills while out in the community.
