We had a great party yesterday --- Thanks to Erin Sosebee, her committee, students from Eastside, JL Mann and Shannon Forest, and of course, our beautiful students. Everyone had a great time and we hope all of you had a happy Valentine’s Day as well.
Hopefully you have put on your calendar that tomorrow and Monday are school holidays for students. Friday is a teacher workday and Monday we will be observing President’s Day, so this will be quite a long weekend.
We continue to struggle with flu and other health issues, and LaKisha asked that I remind parents that, by district policy, students must be fever-free for 24 hours without medication before returning to school. Please do not send your student back prematurely as we have many medically fragile students.
This week classes have studied topics such as life cycles of plants, taxes and laws, values of coins and African American history. They have gone off campus for shopping, bowling and eating. The students at the Hollis campus went to the South Carolina Children’s Theatre play “Balloonacy.” And every class has been involved with a variety of valentine projects.
Next week we have interim progress reports going home on Tuesday and on Wednesday the volunteers from GE will be on campus to install the new boards they have made for our multi-sensory room.
Today, parents of students ages 17-20 will receive a Parent Survey from the State Department of Education. The surveys are a measure of how parents feel about their child’s school. Your opinions will give us input for improvement and be a portion of the State School Report Card. All responses are anonymous. Several of the questions pertaining to Homework do not apply to our program- you may leave those questions blank. Please return the completed surveys in the sealed envelopes by March 21.
That’s it for us. Have an enjoyable weekend and we will look for everyone back on Tuesday.
