We were very pleased to have students from St. Mary’s Catholic School with us this week for a concert, but it was necessary to reschedule the singers from JL Mann, so they will perform for us on Monday. That will work well as we will definitely be enjoying Christmas activities Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Our party, with the Daughters of Penelope here to help celebrate, will be on Tuesday, and then Wednesday, which will be movie and pajama day, will also be a half day.
This week classes had lessons on Christmas decorations, how snow is made, flags from other countries and holiday traditions. The Bebo word this time was “more” and our talented speech therapists put together a fun video to help students understand how the word “more” is used. We were very excited this week to receive about 13 Zuma chairs, purchased for us by Special Education Services. These are chairs that allow kids to rock without being able to rock the chair over --- prefect for a number of our students. Trips off campus included one to the Upstate Museum to see the Jan Brett exhibit and others to see the Festival of Trees or to shop at Trader Joe’s.
We send thanks to our wonderful PTA for the lunch they served us on Wednesday. We loved the chicken and fixings from Tommy’s Ham House and those who lunch from Pita House had said theirs was delicious as well. Also, Orr and Riley’s class were treated to a story reading by their “secret grandpa” who came with gifts. Santa pictures went home this week, and hopefully everyone got copies of the school newsletter today. Thanks to Barbara Bingham and Linda Thigpen for their work on the newsletter and thanks as well to Gloria Munoz who translated it into Spanish.
Next week will be a short week, and Wednesday will be a half day. I hope everyone has done your holiday shopping and will have an opportunity to relax with friends and family. Our break will be from December 21st through January 2. Take care and enjoy the weekend.
