Sue Cleveland Elementary is hard at work every day, building a strong foundation that will allow for student success and provide the necessary ingredients to build our students into College or Career Ready Graduates. We invite parents and visitors to join us for any of our Title I Planning Meetings, special events, or just stop by and visit our Parent Resource Room and say “hello”! You will notice a lot of new faces at Sue Cleveland this year!
Please note that all of our teachers are certified in the grades that they teach as well as the paraprofessionals in our building.
If you have suggestions to help us plan each year, or if you would like to volunteer, or are interested in mentoring, please come by the front office and place your idea in our Suggestion Box or see our Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, Mrs. Fernicola. We believe in keeping our partnership strong with our parents and community. We can't do it alone; our student’s academic success requires all of us working together!
2019-2020 - All interested stakeholders and the SCE Title I Planning Team met on 11/30/18 at 9:00 a.m., to go over our comprehensive needs assessment data to evaluate our next steps in the planning process for our schoolwide Title I program for 2019-2020. It was determined that our data showed that our intentional efforts to build teacher capacity through professional development were increasing student achievement in both ELA and Math. Literacy would continue to be the focus of the plan, with professional development supports in place. We will continue working on school culture and climate for all stakeholders through continued learning opportunities and support in the Responsive Classroom model. SCE’s Title I total allocation was $568,820.00 for 2019-2020.
Planning for 2020-2021 has begun! We report data at our SIC (School Improvement Council) meetings (usually the last Friday of the month). This data is our guide as we fluidly work through our schoolwide improvement plan. On November 22, 2019, at 9 A.M. we will summarize our school needs to date and begin the process of planning for the 2020-2021 school year. You are welcome to join us and to be a part of the planning process.
What is Title I?
The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015. This bipartisan measure reauthorizes the 50 year old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the nation’s national education law and longstanding commitment to equal opportunity of all students. The reauthorized law sets high standards and contains policies that will help prepare all students for success in college and future careers.
We have a schoolwide Title I program at SCE, where ALL children benefit from Title I funds. You have a right to be involved in your child's education and we invite you to be a part of the yearlong Title I planning process. Please see our online calendar for meetings dates and times. Additionally, information is sent home in weekly teacher newsletters, and by the Principal’s weekly phone message.
We have a SUGGESTION BOX in our front office that is checked on Fridays.
In 2019-2020, Title I funds will be used for:
We keep a copy of our Title I Plan and our School Report Card on our website when they become available.
