2022-2023 Title I Information for Sue Cleveland Elementary

Sue Cleveland Elementary is hard at work every day, building a strong foundation that will allow for student success and provide the necessary ingredients to build our students into College or Career Ready Graduates.

Please note that all of our teachers are certified in the grades that they teach as well as the paraprofessionals in our building.

We believe in keeping our partnership strong with our parents and community.  We can't do it alone; our student’s academic success requires all of us working together! Our motto is "Better Together" which signifies our dependence on each other-this includes all staff, students, families, and our community stakeholders.

The 2022-2023 school year has begun, and before you know it, we will be planning for the school year 2023-2024!  Evaluation Surveys will be sent out in October to stakeholders and staff, to be completed through our Google link. We will happily make paper copies available as well upon request.

Our Title I Evaluation and Planning Meetings for next year start with a staff meeting on December 6, 2022, and for all stakeholders a public meeting on December 13, 2022, 11:30 - 1, in the Parent Involvement Room, (K007).

Please make sure that your current email and phone numbers are up to date in Backpack and that Mrs. Fernicola has you signed up for REMIND texts. We will also be using SeeSaw to communicate this year as our school-wide communication platform.

Title I Funds: SCE’s Title I total allocation was slightly down for 2022-2023. This year we received $646,500 and an additional set aside amount specifically for parent involvement of $10,683.11. With these funds we have been able to hire an additional class size reduction teacher, (a total of 2 in 2nd and 3rd grades) Interventionist, Instructional Coach for primary teachers, and a Behavior Specialist, along with our Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator, Mrs. Fernicola. We also have purchased site licenses that students can use in school and at home along with instructional supplies, and schoolwide instructional supplies.

What is Title I?

Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed by President Obama on December 10, 2015. This bipartisan measure reauthorizes the 50-year-old Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) the nation’s national education law and longstanding commitment to equal opportunity for all students. The reauthorized law sets high academic standards and contains policies that will help prepare all students for success in college and future careers.

We have a schoolwide Title I program at SCE, where ALL children benefit from Title I funds. You have a right to be involved in your child's education and we invite you to be a part of the yearlong Title I planning process. Please see our online calendar for meeting dates and times. Additionally, information is sent home in weekly teacher newsletters, and by the principal’s weekly phone message. There is a quick reference brochure available titled, What is Title I? in our document and links section below.  Our schoolwide Title I Documents and Links will be updated throughout the year as we update after meetings take place and as part of the yearlong planning process develops.

Our Suggestion Box is back in the front office if you would like to leave any suggestions or comments. I check the box on Fridays. If you would like a response, please leave your contact information.
