Students in second grade will participate in the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) and the IOWA Assessment (IA) during the month of October. The purpose of these two State tests is to assess cognitive abilities in three areas: verbal, quantitative, and non-verbal reasoning. They are often used for identifying students for gifted and talented programs. Schools use the results to inform educational placement and support decisions, helping to tailor instruction to students' needs. The dates for the test administrations are below:
October 8th and 9th: CogAT
October 10th: IOWA Reading
October 11th: IOWA Math
Please make attendance a priority on these date to ensure all students in second grade are able to complete the assessments within the testing window.
