Students at Mitchell Road Elementary School receive a high level of support services from an outstanding staff.  We have a full time school counselor who works with students, parents, teachers, and various social service organizations for the support of our school family. The school counselor provides core curriculum lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, school-wide programming and other collaborative services all with a focus on LEARNING TODAY...LEADING TOMORROW.  Our comprehensive counseling program supports whole child education and is an integral part of developing well-rounded citizens.

Core curriculum is provided through monthly lessons in the classroom from the School Counselor. The school-wide theme of Growth Mindset provides a foundation for all lessons. Other topics (such as character development, soft skills development and others as needed) are incorporated into lessons and tied back to the theme of Growth Mindset. Small groups and individual counseling are tailored to meet the needs of students and families of MRES.

The School Counselor collaborates with parents, teachers and other staff to advocate for students.  As needed, the school counselor also communicates with outside service providers.
