I am so proud, privileged and excited to serve as principal at Mauldin Elementary. This is such a wonderful community and a GREAT school. Prior to joining the Mauldin team as principal I served as the principal at Central Elementary in the School District of Pickens County for 3 years. Before moving to South Carolina I was a principal with the Habersham County Schools in Georgia for 8 years at Demorest Elementary and Baldwin Elementary (4th – 5th grade). I have also served as an assistant principal and teacher in Habersham County. I have taught Kindergarten and first grade as an augmented teacher and I taught second and third grade.
I have a Ph. D. from Georgia State University in Educational Leadership and Educational Policy Studies. My dissertation was a qualitative study looking at student perceptions of their engagement in a third grade writing classroom. I also have a M. Ed. from the University of West Georgia in Educational Supervision and Administration and B. A. degree from the University of North Georgia in Early Childhood Education. I am certified in both Georgia and South Carolina to be an Elementary Administrator and teacher in grades PK – 5th grade.
I currently live in Easley with my wife, Kristin, who also is an educator. She is an Elementary teacher and Art teacher. I have three sons - Kaleb, 11, Grayson, 8, and Jackson, 2. We are active members at Grace Church in Greenville. I enjoy gardening, hiking, running, and most of all, spending time with my family.
It is so exciting to have the opportunity to work with the families and community of Mauldin Elementary. I continue to look forward to great things happening at Mauldin. We are living on a mission at MES to empower all individuals to lead with intention, explore with purpose, and persevere in seeking solutions. If I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to call.
Jamie Spinks, Ph. D.
