This year we are
implementing a new character education program called the Lifeskills
Program. It consists of a list of Lifeskills and a list of Lifelong
Guidelines. In order not to confuse our students, we will refer to them
all as Lifeskills. This program will
reinforce good behavior and traits that all students should exhibit. Lifeskills are characteristics that we want to instill in our children
in order to help them become successful students and later successful
citizens.
These Lifeskills fall under the “umbrella” of our school-wide
procedures:
Be respectful.
Be responsible.
Be caring.

details on our school-wide procedures.
Having this common
language throughout the school, and with you at home, will help create a
positive and consistent school environment. When students
are caught using a Lifeskill, they may be rewarded with a Lifesaver
award and a sticker. The Lifesaver award will be turned into the library
and one Lifesaver winner from each grade level will be recognized on the
Morning News show on Friday. After that all the awards will be given
back to the classroom teachers to distribute to their students. This way
your child can bring home the Lifesaver award and share it with you!
We want you to have a copy of the Lifeskills so that you will be
familiar with the language as well. We are certain that this new program
will elevate the already positive environment at Taylors and encourage
students to make good choices in their behavior. You can also be on the
lookout for your Topcat to come home wearing a Lifesaver sticker and
celebrate their success with Lifeskills.
