Title IX is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex, including pregnancy and parental status, in educational programs and activities.  The law states

“No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.”


Office of Title IX

The Title IX Office works to ensure a safe, welcoming and harassment free environment for all students of the Greenville County School District. The Title IX Office provides training to faculty and staff, provides support to students, and ensures prompt, thorough and impartial investigations and resolutions of all complaints related to discrimination, sexual misconduct and sexual harassment in the educational experience, including academics, extracurricular activities, and athletics. The Title IX Office ensures that GCS is in compliance with all federal and state laws prohibiting sex-based discrimination, sexual harassment and retaliation.
