Where in the World is Montague?

Our theme this year at Blythe is "Around the World in 180 days!"  Montague the Bear will give clues each morning from a French or Spanish country.  Students will try to guess which country Montague is visiting that week, and will drop their answers in a special box in the Media Center.  A winner will be drawn each Friday.

Clues for the Week

Monday, December 14, 2009 - Christopher Columbus arrived at this island in November 19, 1493. He found living here a group of Indians known today as the TaĂnos.

Tuesday, December 15, 2009 - The island had many names such as “Boriquen” but its current name means “Rich Port”in English.

Wednesday, December 16, 2009 - This island was invaded by the United States during the Spanish-American War during 1898. As an outcome of the war Spain gave up with island. Therefore, people in this island speak English as well as Spanish.

Thursday, December 17, 2009 - This island can elect their own governor, has its own customs, has their traditional Spanish foods, and has their own laws; however all people born here are considered American Citizens, can serve in the United States Military and even uses American monies.
