Students currently are using their laptops during the school day and returning them in the afternoon for charging purposes. After the following three requirements have been satisfied, all new students will be allowed to take their laptops home beginning Friday, 9/22:
- All parents must attend a brief mandatory meeting related to the laptops and the insurance policy. We are hosting a few large group meetings and, if you are not able to attend, you can contact Dr. Alsip (calsip@greenville.k12.sc.us) to request a one-on-one meeting to satisfy this requirement. The dates of the meetings will be Wed 9/13, Mon 9/18, and Wed 9/20 at 5:30 pm.
- All students will have to pay a one-time $25 insurance rental agreement. This insurance covers the laptop in the event of damages or theft. Check, cash, and MySchoolBucks payment is accepted. Checks should be made out to JL Mann. If using MySchoolBucks, please select New Tech Device Fee.
- All students must obtain a passing Agency grade by the time we issue progress reports.
If the above requirements are not satisfied by Friday, 9/22, students will need to continue to turn-in their laptops daily before leaving NewTech@Mann.
Parents will likely also be interested in having their own ECHO account, which allows them to see their student's grades, assignments, and daily agendas directly from the classes they are enrolled in. To request an ECHO account, simply visit this page and provide the information requested.
