Parents/Guardians:
Each year, schools in South Carolina are required to complete a School Climate Survey developed by the state, to be included on each school’s State Report Card. Each school is asked to get a sampling of teachers, students, and parents to complete the survey. Therefore, Northwest needs your help! We would appreciate you taking a few minutes out of your day to complete the State School Climate Survey. Thank you all for your continued support of Northwest Middle School!
Parents of GCSD students may access the School Climate survey via their Backpack for Parents on the My Students page.Parents of students in any grade may complete a survey. This includes 4K, 5K, and students in grades 1-2.
All surveys must be completed by April 5, 2024.
All questions/statements must have a response. For those questions/statements not applicable or the respondent has no opinion, the response “No Answer” should be selected.
In 2014 the South Carolina Legislation passed Erin’s Law, as part of Health and Safety Education. The purpose of the law is to ensure that all students Pre-Kindergarten through High School receive this prevention instruction during the academic school year. The intent of the law is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to remain safe from sexual assault and how to make a report if an assault occurs.
Instructional units were written as a resource guide for educators to implement Erin’s Law. These units are aligned with the South Carolina Academic Health and Safety Education. Lesson content varies from grade to grade. A copy of each lesson will be available at your child’s school for you to preview if you choose.
Over the next school year your child will be presented this lesson by a counselor. The lesson content is not part of sexuality education and only discusses age appropriate health and safety education.
If you have any further questions after you have previewed the materials please contact your child’s counselor.
