Starting Tuesday October 5, robotics will return to Northwest for interested 7th and 8th graders. This competitive robotics program uses VEX IQ robots that are fully programmable and ideal for middle school students. This year’s competition is ‘Pitching In’: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=je_LJcpxtik). The fall course utilizes a programmable virtual robot that competes on a ‘Pitching In’ virtual field. The python-based software runs on a student Chromebook and comes with easy-to-follow tutorials and exercises. Instruction will be led by the team of volunteers who coached robotics at Northwest for two years and helped multiple teams compete at the state championship level. These instructors are part of Steam Tech Teams who have been teaching technical subjects throughout Greenville County Schools for seven years. We hope to return to hands-on robotics by January 2022.
