Welcome to the Hughes Academy web site. We are a STEAM school, which means, among other things, that this site is both student-centered and, more importantly, student-generated. Check back often for news and pictures from Hughes Academy.

The Hughes Academy strings program is accepting 6th grade students for the 2016 - 2017 school year! Instruction is offered for violin, viola, cello and string bass with several performing opportunities throughout the year. Our strings students have received superior ratings at South Carolina and national orchestra adjudications as well as the SC Solo & Ensemble festival. A parent information meeting will be held on Thursday, April 18 at 6 pm in the Hughes Academy strings room (B-103). Perfect Header Definition Change
Greenville County is implementing a new attendance practice for 2016-2017 as outlined below. Please know that this will affect awards at the end of the year. We wanted you to be aware of the change as soon as possible.
Perfect Attendance Criteria:
The definition of an absence at a Greenville County Middle School is missing more than one-half of any singular class period for which a student is enrolled, or multiple class periods for which a student is enrolled, during a school day. Absence in any part of the school day for a minimum of more than one-half class period, even if the student was present for all other portions of that same school day, by definition excludes a student from being determined to have Perfect Attendance.
Please contact our attendance clerk or your grade level counselor if you have any questions.
