Dear Bethel Families,

Welcome to another year at Bethel Elementary where we are “Wild About Learning!” Our Cardinals – students, parents, teachers, and staff alike – continue to fly high within our walls and away from the nest as well. In the past year we have celebrated award-winning poets, archers, and artists in various settings and we look forward to witnessing more greatness in the coming year.

The past few years have been unique for all of us, but we’ve all flown high and come out on the other side stronger than we ever anticipated.  Thanks in large part to the community as a whole Bethel Elementary has seen:

-The addition of a brand new playground! Click here to see the reveal video that was shared in April of 2022! This new addition would not have been possible without our staff, students, parents, and PTA’s support of Boosterthon, which saw our best campaign in the history of the school this past year!

-Our Cardinal Chorus sang the National Anthem at Greenville Drive’s Reading Night!

-Coach Whitham’s archery team placed first in the district qualifier and qualified for the state tournament!

-One of our students was given the title of honorary Green Beret for his work ethic, survival skills, and overall character!

Some of the celebrations mentioned above are a direct result of the support we receive daily and the programs available to our students at school. Here are a few programmatic upgrades we’ve seen bring additional success to our students:

-Increase in intervention positions: We now boast 3 reading and 1 math intervention teacher to support student needs.

-The adoption of Flex Time: A period of the day in all grade levels where students receiving enrichment or remediation outside the classroom do so while the remainder of the class focuses on review or enrichment activities as well. All students are together throughout the day whenever new content is taught as a result!

We look forward to continuing these programs and also bringing back or starting anew the following programs this year as well:

-Principal’s Library: Students will be recognized for strong independent reading skill by visiting Mr. Critell’s office to select books that he shares via the morning news and on the library website.

-Bethel Bots: The Bots are Back! Check out social media and our homepage for an opportunity to bring home the robots used in our STEAM and Innovation labs for the week or weekend!

-The fifth-grade overnight trip is back! We’ll see you in February Chattanooga!

It is an honor to serve this school community! The school’s legacy of being an environment that fosters relationships and develops future leaders gets stronger each year because of the commitment our school community, faculty, staff, and students put forth daily to ensure all Cardinals Fly High! Now let’s get wild about learning and have the best year yet!
