Students participating in the Youth in Government program take on the role of a South Carolina Congressional representative and take their bills through committee meetings to full Senate and House debates and finally to the Youth Governor to sign. At the end of the session, the bills are presented in a bound copy to the legislature, and some student bills have become the basis for actual laws.
To join Youth in Government, interested students need a C average or above as well as a teacher recommendation.
